Pit fire is an ancient pottery tradition and artistic way to finish clay pots. It is one of the earliest method that transform raw clay into beautiful pottery. Before electric kilns, propane kilns, or wood kilns existed, potters used the earth itself as the firing chamber. It creates unpredictable and organic patterns.
